Yellow Pages Canada is the digital media leader in connecting residents with local businesses, services and recommendations. Taking inspiration from the old school physical yellow pages directory books with a tactile and human feel, and combining that with a quality of handwritten script that you may find in the digital worldβ€”like the signature on an ipad, or digital notes taken from a smooth and round stylus. YP Hand became a way for the brand to evolve into the digital world, while also retaining the human, personalized touch. The script typeface was based on handwriting so it had a number of alternates for each character for authenticity, while still maintaining brand recognition. As an extension of the hand, icons and illustrations were also created for use throughout the brand.
